Fall 2008:

We arrived at the Manchester, TN KOA campground on November 4.  The drive from Indiana was lovely with temperatures in the low 70’s and the trees apparently at the peak of their color.  November 5 we visited Lynchburg, TN where we had lunch at the Bar-B-Que Caboose Café then toured the Jack Daniels Distillery.  It was an interesting tour with a free sample of Jack Daniels Lemonade at the conclusion.

November 6 we spent the afternoon with Bob’s Uncle Dale, Aunt Charlene, Christine, Gladys and cousin Kris. We were also able to briefly see Mitch and Katie, Kris’ teenagers.

November 8 we arrived at the Ho-Hum Campground in Carrabelle, Florida.  Our campsite is about 40 feet from the Gulf of Mexico, where we saw crab in the water and a beautiful sunset.  We’ve already met some nice people and look forward to exploring the area as well as relaxing on the Gulf.

Indiana Highlights Fall 2008

We went to see the Indiana Pacers at the Fair Grounds Coliseum which was their original home. It brought back many memories of seeing them play there in the late 60's and early 70's. I was able to get a picture with Chris Denari and Bobby Leonard which was a bit of a thrill. I hope the Pacers will have a better year this year. We plan to see the Pacers in Orlando and Miami this winter. I also have a picture of the security guard (Chelsea) at the Coliseum checking me for weapons. See other pictures of family and friends below.

While home in Indiana we have enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Activities have included:

*       Attending demonstrations by the Greenfield Fire Department SWAT and canine officer, both involving son, Mike.

*       Attending the 4th Annual Football Fundraiser between Greenfield’s Finest (Police Department) and Bravest (Fire Department).  Even though son, Mike was unable to play for the Finest this year they won a close game and lead the series 3 games to 1.  Our granddaughters were among the Misdemeanors cheerleaders.  This year’s proceeds benefited People’s Burn Foundation and Extinguish the Need, two organizations that benefit fire victims.

*       Watching niece Emma play with the Greenfield-Central High School varsity soccer team, and nephew Ross play with the Greenfield Middle School soccer team.

*       Attending a Grandparents Tea at Greenfield Middle School with grandson, Patrick, where we met teachers, visited classrooms and had delicious refreshments prepared by his 6th grade Consumer Science class.

*       Attending the Riley Festival with Kathy’s sisters.

*       Celebrating Bob’s birthday by attending the Riley Festival parade with the grandchildren, enjoying lunch at Mozzi’s Pizza and viewing “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” at the local theatre.

*      We welcomed our latest Grand-Niece Shelby Gail to the family on September 22nd.
