Thanks to Cindy at Recycled Bags for the idea for this recycled handbag.  It’s made from plastic shopping bags and measures 13 X 9 inches.  I lined it with a pair of jeans that are now too large for Bob and used one of the back pockets as a pocket for the handbag.  I plan to enter it in the Bags 2 Riches  contest this summer, thanks to a suggestion from our son, Eric.  Bags 2 Riches benefits Trusted Mentors, an organization to help prevent homelessness.

Bob has been participating in a chess club here in Tucson and wanted a bag to carry his chess board, clock, pieces, etc. so I made this oversized bag which measures 24 X 29 inches.

These are the most recent sweaters I’ve made for Guideposts’ Knit for Kids.

I’ve also discovered another organization to support: Soldiers’ Angels where there are several opportunities to support our military.  I encourage you to check it out.  I recently enjoyed The Best Bead Show, one of the many Tucson Gem & Mineral shows, where I was able to purchase more beads and a kit for a new bracelet pattern, which I’m anxious to try.

I retired in 2006 after a fulfilling 32 year nursing career.  As much as I enjoyed my nursing profession, I love retirement even more!  We have seen so much of this beautiful United States, have met great people and have made many new friends.

I decided it’s time to update my page so here goes..

I enjoy spending time with family and always look forward to our time in Indiana and Tennessee.  It’s wonderful to see how the grandchildren have grown and what our sons and daughters-in-laws have been doing in their homes and their lives.  I enjoy talking to all of them on the phone, but it’s not quite the same as seeing them in person, especially since youngest granddaughter, Grace, usually won’t talk to me on the phone!  I also look forward to spending time with my siblings and all my nieces and nephews.

I’ve been catching up on my reading since we’ve settled into our “winter home.”  I’m currently reading Steve Martini’s Double Tap a legal mystery.  I also enjoy Mary Higgins Clark, Jan Burke, and am hopeful Jan Karon will produce a new book soon as I’ve read all of hers!   This summer Bob encouraged me to read Ken Follet’s The Pillars of the Earth and on the third attempt I was finally able to get into it, so now we have a couple more of Ken’s books.  I also hope to start a quilt after Christmas.  There is a craft/quilting group at this park, so hopefully I can get some much-needed helpful information!
